Bud Research Mushroom Growing Supplies

Common questions

What does BudResearch sell?

Mushroom spore syringes and spore prints for microscopy and identification work, liquid cultures and grain spawn for edible and gourmet species, and cultivation hardware such as grain bags, substrate, sterile injection ports and monotub equipment. BudResearch also operates as Boomer Shroomer.

Are mushroom spores legal to buy in the United States?

In most states, yes. Psilocybin mushroom spores contain no psilocybin or psilocin, so the spores themselves are not a controlled substance and are sold for microscopy, taxonomy and educational use. Cultivation is a separate question and is illegal in most states. You are responsible for knowing your local law before ordering.

Which states do you not ship spore syringes or prints to?

California, Georgia and Idaho. Those states restrict the spores themselves, so we cannot ship spore syringes or spore prints there. Edible and gourmet cultures such as Lion's Mane, Oyster, Reishi and Shiitake are legal nationwide and ship to all 50 states.

What is the difference between a spore syringe, a spore print, and a liquid culture?

A spore syringe holds viable spores suspended in sterile water, usually 10cc to 12cc, and is the easiest format for microscopy. A spore print is spores deposited on sterile foil, the original analog format, with a long shelf life when kept cool and dry. A liquid culture contains live mycelium rather than spores and is used for edible and gourmet species.

Which research strains do you stock?

Stock rotates, but regularly includes PF Classic (Professor Fanaticus), Golden Teacher, B+, Ecuador, Hanoi, Cambodian, Mazatapec, Albino A+, Penis Envy and Tidal Wave. These are sold for spore identification and microscopy.

How should I store spores?

Keep syringes and prints cool, dark and dry. Refrigeration at normal fridge temperature suits syringes; do not freeze them, because ice crystals rupture the spores. Prints stored cool and dry stay viable far longer than syringes, which is why prints are the preferred format for long-term reference material.

Do you ship discreetly?

Yes. Orders ship in plain packaging with nothing on the outside indicating the contents. Shipping is domestic within the United States only.

Sold for microscopy, taxonomy and educational research. Not for human consumption. Verify your local law before purchasing.
